What Do Animators and Multimedia Artists Do?

Create graphics and animations for films, TV shows, video games, and commercials. They develop images for product labels, brochures, and presentations and can help design websites. Computer software and other equipment is used to create images for an object or character to look in motion. They are able to think creatively and be able to organize and produce the appropriate content for the client.

Salary

Median yearly salary in Washington state is $88,449 and in the United States it’s $77,700

As you start out you earn much less. Depending on the industries you work such as advertising or film. You can be self employed or be a full time animator hired by a company. If you’re self employed your wages can depend on the type of project you are doing.

Training Programs

Most animators and multimedia artists obtain a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, commercial and advertising art, fine art, computer graphics, or animation. Some of the best schools for computer graphic or animation degrees in the US and Washington State are:

  • Rhode Island School of Design

  • California Institute of the Arts

  • University of California, Los Angeles

  • Brigham Young University

  • California College of the Arts

  • Digipen Institute of Technology

  • University of Washington

Animators and Multimedia Artists interest me the most because of its broader spectrum of job duties you can do. You’re able to use your creativity and skills to bring someone’s vision to life. The work consists of drawing and bringing it digitally.
