Using After Effects

The Adobe app that I chose to use was After Effects. This app lets you create motion graphics and visual effects. I wanted to create some form of promo video for my site. It took me a while to get use to this application because it was very new to me. I spent my first couple of days trying to figure out how it works and where everything is in the app. Once I got the hang of it I started practicing trying to animate just my name and adding a border to it. I learned how to scale text and change the opacity. I had trouble setting the correct time of how long each motion should take because I didn't know I was setting it to seconds instead of millisecond until I tried exporting it. After I found out how to change my timeline to milliseconds, I perfected how long each motion should take. I wanted to add my web address to it so I animated the rectangle border to fill to a yellow that matches the same yellow I use on my site. Once it was set I looked up on the effects and presets window and found an effect that makes the text look like it's being typed called typewriter. Exporting my final product took me a while to figure out since it's not the same as Photoshop. I tried opening it from my files but it wouldn't play because my computer application said the file was not supported which turned out there was another step I had to do. I had to use Media Encoder which lets you turn your final product on After Effects and Premier Pro into video files that you can watch. I looked up a tutorial on how to use it and FINALLY I had a file that I was able to watch on my computer and upload to my site! It was loads of trial and error to create this 7 second motion graphic but I'm happy with the outcome.
